Learning Teams

  • Collaboration and teamwork are hallmarks of the Darden experience. A critical part of the case method is working with your learning team — a group of five to six students from across the different First Year sections — that provides you with support to work through and understand each case.

Each group is assigned to a specific learning team room, where it meets to discuss the cases before class. Darden students are committed to working with their learning teams to ensure that everyone in the group is prepared to participate in class discussions, and the understanding is more thorough than if students were working individually. Learning teams are not expected to provide all of the answers; rather, students learn how to work within a group while mastering new concepts and skills.

To ensure that each group is composed of students with diverse professional, geographical and cultural backgrounds, learning teams are assigned by the Assistant Dean for the Program.
